How do you handle fear and self-doubt?

Fear and self-doubt are honestly things I don’t think ever fully go away. I think no matter how confident or experienced someone becomes, there are always moments where that little voice creeps in asking, “What if you fail?” or “Are you actually good enough for this?”

For me, I’ve learned that handling fear is less about eliminating it and more about learning how to move forward despite it. Some of the biggest opportunities, changes, and growth moments in my life have also been the moments that terrified me the most. New jobs, difficult conversations, putting myself out there creatively, even taking chances on relationships or friendships, fear tends to show up whenever something actually matters to me.

Self-doubt usually hits hardest when I start comparing myself to other people. Social media and the internet make it really easy to feel like everyone else has life figured out while you’re still trying to keep up. But over time, I’ve realized most people are just doing their best and learning as they go too. Confidence is rarely as effortless as it looks from the outside.

One thing that helps me is focusing on progress instead of perfection. I remind myself that I don’t have to do everything flawlessly to still be worthy of trying. Sometimes surviving the moment, learning from it, or simply showing up is enough. I’ve also learned to lean on the people around me. Whether it’s friends, family, coworkers, or my chosen family, having people who remind you of your strengths when you forget them yourself can make a huge difference.

And honestly? Sometimes I handle fear by just doing the thing scared. Waiting until you feel completely ready or fearless usually means waiting forever. Growth is uncomfortable, and I think self-doubt is often proof that we care deeply about what we’re doing.

I still have moments where fear gets loud. But I’ve learned that fear doesn’t always mean stop. Sometimes it just means you’re standing at the edge of something important.
