Yes and I have thoughts, SHOCKER!
I genuinely love camping… but let me be clear: I am not a solo camper, and if given the choice, I will pick a camper over a tent every single time.
It’s not that I can’t do tent camping, I absolutely can. I’ve done it, I’ve survived, I’ve even enjoyed it. But there’s just something about being able to close and lock a door at night that brings me a level of peace I didn’t realize I needed until I lived in the Rocky Mountain region.
Because here’s the thing… the wildlife is wild-life-ing.
We’ve got bears. We’ve got mountain lions. And yes, wolves have been reintroduced to parts of the Rocky Mountain region. I know wildlife exists everywhere, but something about knowing they’re out there while you’re zipped into a thin layer of fabric? It changes you a little. 😂
That said, one of my favorite camping memories completely outweighs any of those anxieties.
It was a trip to Vedauwoo in southern Wyoming with one of my best friends, Austin, someone I consider part of my chosen forever family.

Austin is the kind of person who is always down for an adventure. Very go-with-the-flow, very “let’s just see what happens,” which is honestly the perfect energy to bring into a camping trip.
There’s something about being out there, surrounded by those massive rock formations, disconnected from everything, and just existing in the moment that sticks with you. No schedules, no pressure, just good company and a little bit of chaos (the fun kind).
And maybe that’s why I keep coming back to camping, even with my very real preference for solid walls and locking doors.
Because at the end of the day, it’s not really about the tent or the camper, it’s about who you’re with and the memories you make along the way.
What about you?
Are you a tent camper, a camper/RV person, or someone who prefers the comfort of indoors?
