Genre: MM Contemporary Romance, Age Gap Romance, Best Friend’s Dad, Billionaire Romance
Spoiler-Free Synopsis
The Deep End introduces readers to the world of Cherry Estates, where wealth, complicated relationships, and unexpected attractions collide. Blending MM contemporary romance with a billionaire love interest, an age gap, and a best friend’s dad dynamic, the story explores what happens when attraction develops in a situation that feels complicated from the very beginning.
With the tension of navigating an unconventional relationship and the expectations that come with it, the characters must figure out what they want and whether their connection is worth pursuing. As the first book in the Cherry Estates series, it also begins establishing a world that has the potential to expand through the stories of other characters.
My Thoughts / Review
Going into The Deep End, I was interested to see how the Cherry Estates series would begin, and I think this book has potential to set up some intriguing stories for the books that follow. There is something appealing about starting a new romance series and getting introduced to a world that you know will continue to develop as more characters get their own stories.
Overall, I enjoyed my time with this book. The combination of an age gap, billionaire romance, and best friend’s dad trope offers plenty of opportunities for tension and complicated relationship dynamics. It was an entertaining enough read, and I can see the potential for the larger series to become more engaging as the world and its characters continue to develop.
That said, this was not necessarily a book that left me wanting to shout from the rooftops about how much I loved it. I had a decent time reading it, but it did not quite reach that next level where a story sticks with me long after I finish the final page. There is a difference between enjoying a book while you are reading it and finding yourself thinking about it days later, and this one landed more in the first category for me.
I think the biggest takeaway is that the series has potential, even if this first installment was not a standout read for me. Sometimes the first book in a series has the added responsibility of establishing the setting and introducing the world before later installments can really build momentum. I am interested to see where the author takes Cherry Estates and whether the upcoming books will give me a stronger connection to the characters and their stories.
For me, this was an enjoyable enough read, but not one that will necessarily make my list of favorite romances. I appreciate what it introduces and the possibilities it creates for the rest of the series, even if I wanted a little more from the overall experience.
Would I Recommend It?
I would give this one a cautious recommendation, depending on what you are looking for. If you enjoy MM contemporary romance, billionaire love interests, age gap relationships, and the best friend’s dad trope, it may be worth adding to your list.
However, if you are looking for a romance that completely sweeps you off your feet or leaves you emotionally invested long after finishing, this might be more of a middle-of-the-road read.
I am still curious about Cherry Estates and what comes next. While this first book did not completely win me over, I think there is enough potential here to make me interested in seeing how the series develops.
Favorite Moment Highlight
My favorite takeaway is the introduction to the Cherry Estates world itself. Seeing the foundation laid for a larger series made me curious about the other characters and relationships that could take center stage in future installments.
