Spoiler-Free Thoughts
Episode five delivers a change of pace: a challenge with a target (the “bullseye”) and perhaps a shift in focus. The tone remains consistent with the show’s grounding in character, but you feel the season moving toward its mid-arc turning point. There’s more clarity now about what’s at stake and who the recruits are becoming.
In-Depth Review (Spoilers Ahead!)

“Bullseye” metaphorically and literally does the work: targets, aim, precision. But the bigger target in this episode is identity and expectation. Cameron’s place in the group is tested; Ray’s motivations are clearer; the drill instructors push harder. The show continues to layer its themes: belonging, authenticity, sacrifice.
However, there are moments in this episode where the show feels like it’s juggling too many threads: training, friendship, parental expectation, identity, secret self. Sometimes those threads pull focus, and the momentum dips. For a show of this nature, fine-tuning the balance is key.
Pacing is solid in the first half, a little looser in the second, but overall it works. The end leaves you curious: what’s next for our recruits? What’s the target they haven’t yet seen?
Discussion Question / Final Thought
💭 The idea of “bullseye” makes me think: what are we aiming for, and is hitting it even what we want?
Question: Which target in this episode felt more real, the physical drill’s target or the emotional/identity one? Which one did you root for more?
