My Review
Spoiler warning – spoilers ahead!
Overall, I found this movie to be decent. The story itself leans on familiar romantic comedy tropes, the misunderstandings, the “will they/won’t they” tension, and the quirky side characters. However, it’s delivered in a way that keeps it entertaining rather than tedious. There were moments where I could predict exactly what would happen next, but the writing still had charm and some genuinely funny beats that made me smile.
What really elevates the movie, though, is the casting. Seriously, the actors look amazing and fully embody their roles. Their performances feel effortless, and the chemistry between the leads is absolutely magnetic. Even in scenes that could have fallen flat or felt cliché, their energy and timing made it enjoyable to watch. Supporting characters also bring personality and humor, adding layers that keep the story engaging.
Visually, the movie is bright, stylish, and visually appealing, complementing the lighthearted tone perfectly. The soundtrack hits the right notes, accentuating romantic or comedic moments without being overbearing. While it doesn’t reinvent the rom-com wheel, Anyone But You is a fun, stylish, and well-cast movie that’s easy to sink into for a cozy night of entertainment.
Recommendation
I’d give the story and tropes a solid 3/5 stars—but a full 5/5 for the casting. If you enjoy rom-coms with great chemistry and stylish actors, this one is an easy move to toss on and give it a chance.
